A delegation from the Education Development Fund visited Japan to view the “Kozen” educational system.

A delegation from the Education Development Fund, affiliated with the Prime Minister's Office, paid an official visit to Japan to strengthen educational cooperation between the two countries and benefit from Japan's pioneering experience in technical and vocational education. The delegation also sought to learn about the "KOSEN" educational system.

This visit is part of the efforts to establish KOSEN colleges in Egypt. The tour included a visit to Kagoshima National College of Technology, one of Japan's national technical colleges, which is also known as "KOSEN." These colleges offer a specialized technical education program that lasts for five years, starting after the completion of middle school.

The delegation also visited the headquarters of JICA in Tokyo and the Egyptian Embassy in Tokyo.

Dr. Rasha Saad Sharaf, the Secretary-General of the Education Development Fund, stated that the visit aimed to learn about the study system and explore the academic programs and specialties available, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, electronic control, information engineering, and urban environmental design. The delegation also aimed to understand the curriculum, laboratories, and their requirements, in preparation for implementing the KOSEN system in Egypt.

She added, in a press release issued by the Fund, that the visit also aimed to explore educational methods, teaching and assessment techniques, and to see how the balance between theoretical and practical education is achieved to prepare students for the job market. The delegation also explored how collaboration with industry is implemented, in addition to familiarizing themselves with the infrastructure by visiting laboratories, teaching spaces, lecture halls, technological facilities, and learning centers such as the Global Active Learning Center. They also looked into how these facilities are used to enhance education and research, as well as opportunities for academic cooperation, reviewing some graduation projects and research, and learning about ways to support students.

The Secretary-General of the Education Development Fund pointed out that the KOSEN colleges are a global model for linking advanced technical education with the labor market. This visit is a crucial step toward implementing the Japanese educational system in Egypt, as part of Egypt's Vision 2030, which focuses on building an integrated educational system that contributes to preparing a generation equipped both scientifically and practically to help drive economic development.
