Background:
The Egypt-Japan KOSEN (EJ-KOSEN) will be opened in September 2025 under the development cooperation project between the Government of Japan, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt, including the Education Development Fund (EDF), the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHE), the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), and the Ministry of Education and Technical Education (MOETE). The EJ-KOSEN project was launched in June 2024, aiming to introduce the KOSEN education system in Egypt in accordance with KOSEN International Standards (KIS).
Colleges of Technology (KOSEN) is a unique educational institution in Japan, and is a five-year higher education institution where students can enrol from the age of 15 after graduating from preparatory school, in order to foster capable human resources in high demand by society. By providing specialized education that emphasizes experiments and practical experience from an early stage, the curriculum has features that enable students to acquire knowledge and skills at or above the same level as those at university by the time they graduate.
The EJ-KOSEN College, Sultan El Owais, is the first pilot institution which will provide a unique blend of academic knowledge and hands-on practical training by adapting the Japanese KOSEN model, while ensuring alignment with Egyptian educational regulations. The professor of mathematics is expected to develop and deliver high-quality education based on the KOSEN model in order to foster global and regional innovation leaders who contribute to industry and community development.

Description of Main Duties:
- Develop or update the curriculum and syllabus of the assigned courses by setting appropriate learning outcomes, taking into account technological and theoretical development as well as industry and community needs.
- Develop or update teaching materials, taking into account technological development, as well as industry and community needs.
- Facilitate theoretical and practical lessons in an effective, interactive, and participatory manner, promoting self-learning.
- Conduct formative and summative assessments to monitor and evaluate students' learning outcomes. Provide students with advice to facilitate their learning in classrooms and officer hours.
- Continuously improve teaching methods based on feedback and assessment results to achieve learning outcomes.
- Promote students' overall growth and encourage persistence and timely completion of a course or diploma in classes, office hours, and other occasions.
- Actively engage in career education and employment support activities, such as developing and implementing internship programs.
- Guide students in designing and conducting research projects.
- Design extracurricular activities and encourage students to participate in them.
10. Perform homeroom teacher and dormitory duties and guide students to enhancing disciplines, collaborative problem-solving abilities, and teamwork.
11. Design and conduct research which contributes to industry and community development.
12. Actively engage in developing industry partnerships and community outreach.
13. Actively participate in fund-raising initiatives through engagement with alumni, industry, and other partners.
14. Actively engage in the promotion of a safe, inclusive and equitable learning environment designed to address student needs and partner with accommodation or other support services to provide the necessary support when appropriate.
15. Actively engage in school administration, such as various committees, department and program meetings, KIS accreditation process, and public relations.
16. Promote international exchange activities, especially with KOSENs in Japan.
17. Actively engage in knowledge-sharing/Faculty Development (FD)/Staff Development (SD) activities with other academic staff, students, industry, and communities.
18. Actively engage in activities under the EJ-KOSEN project and contribute to delivering project outputs in close cooperation with JICA experts.
Qualification Requirements:
Education:
Advanced university degree in Engineering/Applied Science (PhD is preferable, but candidates with Masters' degree with sufficient research skills and those who plan /willing to obtain PhD can be considered).
Experience:
Experiences in (1) teaching in higher education desirably for 2 years; and (2) research in the field of applied mathematics. Working experience in relevant industries will be also considered
Languages:
Excellent command of English and Arabic.

- Proven ability to take ownership of all responsibilities, to act with integrity and transparency by maintaining social, ethical and organizational norms.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of theories, trends, technologies, and teaching methods in the area(s) of mathematics/applied mathematics.
- Ability to develop effective teaching materials and tools which help students achieve learning outcomes.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and disseminate KOSEN-style teaching and education methods and approaches, such as active learning/self-regulated learning, problem/project-based learning, entrepreneurship education, and portfolio/career education, and quality management methods, such as PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Action).
- Excellent research and analytical skills and resource mobilization skills.
- Excellent knowledge, skills, and passion to guide students in learning, researching, and career development.
- Ability to promote knowledge sharing and learning culture and provide technical advice for other academic staff.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to develop partnerships with industry, communities and other stakeholders.
10. Ability to serve as an advisor for extracurricular activities and perform dormitory duty.
11. Ability to work effectively in a team and excellent interpersonal skills.
12. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate gender-responsive, no-dissimilatory, and inclusive behavior and attitudes.
